  • Poas Volcano Crater
    Poas Volcano, Coffee tour and Sarchi souvenir shop visit.

    Early in the morning, between 7 a.m. and 8 am, you will be picked up at your hotel in San Jose or surroundings. From there we start driving northwest towards the Poas Volcano, on the way up you can observe coffee, strawberry and flower plantations as well as beautiful panoramic views of the capital.

    Past the plantations we go through the amazing costarican rainforest and as we approach the volcano entrance we can appreciate the transition into the cloud forest.
  • Botos Lagoon

    Once at the volcano you will enough time to explore the crater, the Botos Lagoon, the natural hiking trails, the informational museum and the gift shop. We start our descend and head to the DOKA ESTATE Coffee Tour where you will learn all there is to know about coffee, from planting to harvesting to tasting it!! After a typical delicious Costarican lunch we will head to the town of Sarchi, known for its handmade souvenir shops, this will be the last stop on this Poas Volcano Tour.

    We will head back to San Jose and dropped off at your hotel at about 6 p.m., just on time for you to get ready to enjoy the San Jose nightlife.

    Poas Volcano information

    North of the Central valley in the Alajuela province we find this volcano of an altitude of 2.708 mts above sea level and temperature ranging from 45 F° to 70 F°. it is one of the most spectacular volcanoes in Costa Rica, mainly for its primary crater that has a warm and acid lagoon, turquoise colors and active fumaroles; it also has cold water lagoon, natural hiking paths and great biodiversity. Its last significant eruption occurred in 1994 spitting rocks around its crater; earlier in 1952 and 1954 had an important period of activity in which it was observed ash clouds, hot rocks and loud rumbles that formed the inner cone in the main crater of about 40 mts in height. Nowadays its activity consists in gas and water emissions. The Poas Volcano is one of the most visited volcanos in the region for its distinctive features and incredible beauty.
